[1]Juliana Stratton for Senate

Today marks 60 years since the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was signed — a landmark law that was meant to end racial discrimination at the ballot box.

It was a monumental win for the civil rights movement. But today, we find ourselves at another crossroads.

Across the country, Republicans are attacking voting rights — gerrymandering districts to silence Black, Latino, and working-class voters. And right now in Texas, we’re watching Donald Trump and Republican leaders push an extreme redistricting scheme designed to strip power away from communities of color.

I’m not going to stand for it. I’m standing shoulder to shoulder with the Texas legislators who are bravely protesting these racist, anti-democratic maps.

My father marched from Selma to Montgomery for voting rights. That fight — that legacy — lives in me. And I refuse to sit by while our democracy is dismantled by cowards trying to rig the system and silence the people.

But our fight doesn't end with Texas. Republicans will do everything in their power to gut voting rights for voters of color nationwide. So we need to carry this fight to the U.S. Senate. And I can’t do it alone.

If you’re with me — if you believe this fight is worth continuing — please chip in today and help us bring our movement for justice and equality to Washington. We need fighters in Washington. I will be one of them.

We’ve come too far to turn back now. Let’s finish the work.
