Just when we thought things in Texas couldn’t get more extreme, we’ve unfortunately got more bad news. Now, they’re trying to erase elected Democrats from office entirely. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton just announced he’s going to court to have the Democratic lawmakers who broke quorum legally removed from their seats. Let’s be clear: this isn’t about procedure. This is about power. |

These Democrats walked out because they didn’t have any other tools left to stop a rigged redistricting map — one designed by Trump allies to destroy fair representation. And now, the GOP is trying to punish them by wiping them off the political map for good.
They issued arrest warrants earlier this week. Now they want to end their careers. If we let this happen in Texas, it won’t stop there. Other extremist governors and attorneys general will take notes — and try it in their own states.
That’s why we’re not backing down. No Dem Left Behind is doubling our work in Texas. We’re organizing in rural areas, getting resources to districts the GOP wants to erase, and standing up for lawmakers who refuse to surrender to authoritarian tactics.
They want to kick out the people’s representatives so they can redraw democracy in their own image. We won’t let them.

John, What’s happening in Texas right now should scare the hell out of anyone who cares about democracy. Trump’s allies in Texas are forcing through a brutal, corrupt redistricting plan that would hand them almost every congressional seat in the state, even in districts where they lose elections. They’re not even pretending to play fair. This isn’t about representation. It’s about raw power. It’s about silencing millions of voters by slicing up their districts until their votes don’t count. And because Democrats don’t have the votes to stop it, they made the only move they had left: they walked out. Left the Capitol. Denied the GOP the quorum it needs to force this through. Now, those lawmakers are under active threat from Governor Greg Abbott, who’s made it clear he’s willing to punish them for standing up. He’s already threatened to treat their absence as a forfeiture of elected office. |
