** Changing Shape, Not Giving Up
------------------------------------------------------------

August 6, 2025

I am at least the seventh generation of family farmers. A few years ago, my parents sold their farm. This news was devasting to all my siblings, but we couldn’t afford to buy the farm ourselves. Ever since, we have been planning how to return to a life on the land and do it differently this time, sustainably. In these difficult times, we are watching institutions crumble and organizations come under attack from the Trump administration. But rather than give up, nonprofits are gathering their strength and changing the way they seek support, offer help, and interact with their communities—re-making as fast as Trump is breaking. In this week’s Resourcing the Field, we are looking at how to change but never surrender.

This issue has:
* A Deep Dive ([link removed]) – How do we restore democratic participation and community accountability in an era of civic breakdown?

* A Case Study ([link removed]) – The communities creating workforce development systems that actually serve workers’ needs.

* A Feature ([link removed]) – A personal story that illuminates the essential but often unseen role nonprofits play in supporting individuals and communities.

* A Personal Story ([link removed]) – Climate change is transforming childhood experiences in nature. But there are actions we can take to preserve them.

This moment calls on us to re-imagine, re-think, and re-build, stronger than before.
