This week, over 50 Democratic state legislators left Texas, denying Trump and Abbott the quorum they needed to ram through a gerrymandered congressional map designed to steal up to five new GOP seats before the 2026 midterms.
Abbott admitted on Fox News that it was gerrymandering before backtracking to call it “drawing lines.” We know what it is, rigging the system to lock in minority rule.
Partisan gerrymandering is political theft. It lets politicians choose their voters instead of voters choosing their politicians. And if they get away with it in Texas, they’ll take the same playbook nationwide, denying millions of Americans real representation and eroding the very foundations of our democracy.
Trump, Abbott, and their allies are already threatening and trying to arrest these legislators for doing their jobs, standing up for the voters. If we want to stop this assault on democracy, we need to stand with Texas Democrats right now.

We’ve seen this before. In 2021, Texas Democrats broke quorum to block voter suppression, and when they came back, Republicans rammed it through anyway. This time, we need to give them the resources and national pressure to win. That means legal defense, organizing, and voter mobilization so Republicans can’t keep power by cheating.
