John, as someone whose parents both grew up on farms, I’ve seen firsthand how hard our farmers work. Despite brutally long hours and razor-thin margins, our farmers continue to put food on dinner tables across the country.
But the storm brewing in our agricultural sector threatens to dismantle our way of life. Corporate giants like Brazil-owned JBS and China-owned Smithfield are both screwing farmers over while having us pay more at the grocery store for bacon and hamburgers.

Iowa’s agricultural heritage is a proud part of our history but is now at dire risk as farmers confront record corporate consolidation, low commodity prices and the Trump tariffs. This broken monopoly food system illustrates what’s happening across every sector of the American economy; a handful of corporations control the entire supply chain driving farmers off the land and raising costs for consumers at the grocery register.
Iowans know this challenge first hand. Our economy is now ranked dead last in the nation as our Main Streets hollow out. Our current farm policy is based on helping multinational corporations and investor landlords. Instead, we need to revive our rural communities by helping farmers regain independence and provide a healthier, more secure food system for consumers. To do that, we must restore competition and conservation in the Farm Bill.
To make matters worse, these corporations are also poisoning Iowa’s water with their massive animal feeding operations, or Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs). Meanwhile, farmers’ incomes are being suppressed, and food prices continue to climb.
Iowa's future depends on real solutions for small and mid-size farms and the communities they sustain. That’s why today, I’m rolling out my platform to chart a path forward. These are steps I would fight for as the next Senator from Iowa. [[link removed]]

Thanks for being in this fight with me. Together, we can stand tall for all Iowans.
