Join us on Thursday, August 7, at 4:00 PM ET for a special No Labels briefing with Grant Reeher, political science professor at Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Professor Reeher, a respected voice on democratic representation, will share his insights into the redistricting battles that are breaking out in Texas and across the nation.

Redistricting reform is sometimes considered the cure to fix what’s broken in American politics. However, through his research, Professor Reeher finds that most polarization from uncompetitive House districts stems not from gerrymanders, but self-sorting of like-minded people wanting to live closer to each other. We will explore Reeher's theory and hear his ideas on what reforms would work.

Grant Reeher's extensive experience spans decades. In addition to teaching political science, he is a senior research associate at the Campbell Public Affairs Institute. He is also the author/editor of multiple books on public service, including First Person Political: Legislative Life and the Meaning of Public Service. On top of that, he hosts the award-winning NPR show The Campbell Conservations, featuring in-depth interviews with leading public figures.
