The last 48 hours have been intense. Thanks to the authoritarian actions of Donald Trump and Greg Abbott, we’re heading down a path toward unchecked GOP power in Texas — and if we don’t stop them, Washington, DC, too.

Let’s be crystal clear about one thing: the work you and other Texans have done over the last week to fight back against Trump’s gerrymander matters and makes a difference. Republicans are absolutely scrambling because Texans are refusing to have their votes erased, and the rest of the country is standing behind you.

ICYMI — Texas House Dems fled the state to prevent the GOP from having the quorum to vote on the GOP’s undemocratic maps. Our very own Texas Dem Party Chair Kendall Scudder is with our colleagues in Illinois, led by IL Gov. Pritzker.

And now? Greg Abbott is threatening to ARREST them. Simply for having the courage to stand up and fight back against an illegal, racist map.

They think they can move forward with this MAGA map and steal your right to fair representation. It bulldozes Austin, weakens the voting power of Black, Latino, and AAPI Texans, erases multiple Texans of color from office, and rigs all future elections in Texas for Trump. That’s why we’re not even close to being done in this fight.
