AP: Democrats prevent Texas House from moving forward with Trump-backed congressional map

In Texas, state Democrats fled the state in protest of GOP Gov. Greg Abbott’s blatantly unfair redistricting map. The proposed map would redraw lines to hand Republicans five more seats in Congress and crush Democrats’ hopes of flipping the House majority to stop the MAGA agenda.

These brave leaders are not backing down, even as they face a $500 daily fine, removal from office, and even arrest and jail time for standing up for what is right.

When so much is on the line for our democracy, and Republicans in states including Texas are literally trying to redraw the lines to stay in power indefinitely, we need more of this resistance on the front lines.
