BJA Medal of Valor nomination period August 4, 2025 - October 3, 2025 police officer
The Nomination Period for the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor is Open
The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance administers the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor, one of the highest national awards for valor by a public safety officer. The medal is awarded by the President of the United States to public safety officers who have exhibited exceptional courage, regardless of personal safety, in the attempt to save or protect human life.
Public safety officers who serve with or without compensation at the federal, state, local and tribal levels, may be nominated for the Medal of Valor.
This year’s nomination period covers events that took place between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025.
