Enhanced Security Support at the Stassen Building |
|
Beginning Monday, August 11, 2025, a uniformed Minnesota State Trooper may be on-site at the Stassen Building to support the existing security team at the court entrance. This is part of a broader effort by the State of Minnesota to strengthen safety across government buildings.
We understand that visitors to our St. Paul courtrooms may have questions regarding the presence of a uniformed police officer in our space. CAH remains committed to the tenets of procedural fairness and equal access to justice for all. We honor that commitment by ensuring neutral, respectful, and safe spaces for everyone.
Please know that:
- The security screening itself will still be conducted by CAH Security or Capitol Security staff.
- All visitors entering our St. Paul courtrooms will pass through a security screener and place their bags through a scanner.
- The State Trooper is present for the safety of all and is not involved in any case before the Court.
- No one will be asked about their legal background, immigration status, or personal history by CAH security, the State Trooper, or court staff.
- Court proceedings may be held in-person or remotely. Parties may file a motion in their case to request an alternative proceeding location on a case-by-case basis.
We appreciate the State Patrol’s continued collaboration and commitment to keeping our spaces safe and welcoming.
