On Sunday afternoon, dozens of Texas Democrats hopped on a plane and evacuated their state. Why?

To stop Republicans from stealing the 2026 midterm elections.

After Donald Trump demanded that Texas Republicans redraw their state maps to ensure Republicans would pick up 5 more congressional seats, Texas Democrats sprung into action to ensure Trump doesn’t get his way.

These Texas Democrats are doing this at great personal sacrifice. In addition to being away from their family (and their jobs) for as long as this may take, they are also being fined $500 per day and preparing for a flood of negative ads in their district funded by Governor Greg Abbott.
