John,
15-year-old Kennedy Gilmore is the captain of her high school basketball
team in Memphis, Tennessee. Like kids across the country she was excited
to return to school in the fall. She was ready to win more trophies with
her teammates.
That all changed last week when she was shot in the face.
Now, Kennedy will have to miss weeks of school. Her mouth is wired shut.
She has metal plates holding bones in place.
While Kennedy can’t speak, she has something to say. From the hospital she
wrote:
This is only the beginning of how this act of gun violence has changed her
life. She will have to undergo more surgeries, therapy sessions, and live
with this trauma for the rest of her life.
If you can, please support Kennedy's road to recovery by donating directly
to her family’s gofundme to help cover medical expenses and more. The link

March For Our Lives was founded by student survivors like Kennedy. Gun
violence is the #1 killer of kids in America. Every day, 23 kids are shot.
While some survive, their lives are changed forever.
This should’ve never happened to Kennedy. It should’ve never happened to
any of us. No more kids should lose their lives or live with trauma due to
gun violence.
Together, we are fighting for a future where all kids can grow up free
from gun violence.
In solidarity,
Team March For Our Lives
