John,
ICE must be held accountable. This lawless agency, which got a massive infusion of funding from the just-passed Big Ugly Bill, is spreading fear and trauma in immigrant communities while attacking peaceful protestors.
Back in June, federal agents injured and arrested the president of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California, David Huerta, during peaceful protests in Los Angeles.1 This attack on our free speech rights is part of a broader crackdown targeting immigrant communities, with ICE conducting workplace raids and street-level sweeps under the guise of “restoring order.” These tactics are cruel, unnecessary, and a direct attack on our values and our communities
They’re doing all of this while wearing masks and hiding their identities. No law enforcement officer should be allowed to operate anonymously, especially when engaging in actions that terrorize our communities.

ICE conducts lawless raids that send people to nightmarish deportation centers, like Alligator Alcatraz, which has become infamous for its horrific treatment of immigrants. Multiple reports—including firsthand accounts from detainees—describe inhumane conditions such as no water for baths, maggots in food, and lack of access to necessary medical care.2
Alligator Alcatraz isn’t an aberration—it’s how these detention centers are set up to run.
The majority of ICE detention centers are operated by private prison corporations that―based on an internal review by senior immigration officials―need to be closed down due to lack of adequate medical care for detainees, cases of sexual assault, and detainee deaths.3
A study showed that between 2017 and 2021, 95% of deaths in ICE custody were preventable.4
The Trump detention and deportation machine is one based on cruelty and it must be stopped.

John,
ICE raids are spreading fear and trauma in immigrant communities—and people across the country are rising up to protest the return of Trump’s xenophobic, illegal and cruel immigration policies.
While right-wing extremists in Congress cut more than $1 trillion in funding for Medicaid, SNAP, and other critical human needs programs, there’s one area that got a major boost in funding: Trump’s detention and deportation machine.
Congress increased ICE funding by tens of billions of dollars, including as much as $45 billion for ICE detention centers—a 600% increase.1
ICE is breaking our due process laws, illegally arresting and deporting residents with legal status, denying people—including U.S. residents—their right to an attorney and their day in court. Let’s be clear: anyone on U.S. soil is afforded the same constitutional due process rights. Attacks on these rights and the administration’s threat of suspending habeas corpus is a threat to every one of us.
We must stop this abuse. Can you rush a donation of $5
to power our fight to hold ICE and this administration accountable? Together, we must combat this terror being inflicted on immigrant communities.

Already, we’ve seen how far the Trump administration’s lawlessness is willing to go. They have brazenly flouted judicial orders to stop deportations without due process. We’ve seen the Trump administration orchestrate ICE’s public arrest of a sitting judge in Milwaukee, an arrest of a member of Congress from New Jersey, and the physical assaults on a U.S. Senator and a NYC elected official.2,3,4,5
The administration’s lawlessness must end now. Congress needs to act by investigating and holding ICE accountable. Public pressure is our best tool to demand action.
