Dear John,
It's been great to see and speak with so many of you over the past few weeks.
I hope you are all having a great summer and let's hope that the good weather comes back again soon after the recent storm.
A quick moment to congratulate Kelso cyclist Oscar Onley, who - at the age of just 22 - competed and came fourth in this year's Tour de France - an incredible achievement.

My summer advice surgery tour is always one of the highlights of my year.
This year was no different as ** Rachael Hamilton MSP and I visited ([link removed])
dozens and dozens of community centres and village halls across the Borders.
It was very useful to hear first-hand from local people about the key issues that are affecting your lives.
My team and I work hard to help you all year round, so please get in touch with my office if you missed our surgery tour and need assistance.

There is now just one month left to contribute your views to the Live Borders review of sport, leisure and cultural services across our local area.
External consultants produced a report which recommended a number of sites be closed, including Selkirk Swimming Pool, Abbey Row Community Centre in Kelso, the Queens Leisure Centre in Galashiels, Jedburgh's Laidlaw Pool, and various libraries and community centres across Earlston, Eyemouth and Hawick.
I strongly oppose these closures as I believe our communities would be far worse off if these facilities were to shut.
Please make your feelings clear before the consultation closes on 31 August by clicking the link below

I was pleased to have the opportunity to speak in the House of Commons recently regarding the risks to British Armed Forces veterans if the Labour government changes the law over prosecutions related to the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
Labour's plans could leave former soldiers, many of whom are now elderly and infirm, facing a heightened risk of prosecution.
I stand on the side of veterans who sacrificed and put their own lives at risk to protect us.
Having met many veterans across the Borders, I fundamentally disagree with Labour's decision to risk the freedom of former British troops, all because they did their duty and defended our own freedom from violence and terrorism.
