"On 6 August 1945 the atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima with a population of 350,000," writes Kyoko Gibson, a second generation Hibakusha, for CND. "Hiroshima was apparently chosen because of the clear skies overhead that day. Good visibility made it easy to observe the destructive capacity of this new nuclear technology. Within four months, 140,000 died, and to this day, people continue to die from radiation- related illnesses.

US nuclear weapons in Britain puts us all at risk

"It has been a busy – and incredibly worrying – few weeks for nuclear-related news. Although not confirmed by the government, it is believed that US nuclear weapons are now on British soil for the first time in two decades, a move that puts us on the nuclear front line of any American/Russian war. These are dangerous times."
