I want to make one thing clear, John: members of Congress are literally responsible for oversight, especially on facilities in our own communities.

I recently followed scheduling procedures to visit the ICE facility located in Eloy to ensure the law and due process are followed. But 24 hours before our scheduled meetings with constituents, they were cancelled with no explanation.

This planned, scheduled visit came after our office received a surge of concerns from families who are scared their loved ones are being subjected to inhumane treatment, including inadequate medical care. 

Donald Trump, Kristi Noem, and this right-wing authoritarian administration are waging a racist and xenophobic war that is destroying our democracy and hurting our communities.

I refuse to sit by and let this administration throw due process out the window and dehumanize detainees. If you’re standing with me, will you pitch in today?
