Stop ICE Collaboration in Loudoun County

The New York Times recently called Virginia a ’Hotbed of Immigration Arrests’. Unfortunately, Loudoun County is at the center of that because of Sheriff Chapman's decision to sign a 287(g) agreement with ICE and have our police welcome ICE agents with open arms.

What is happening:

  • Loudoun County Sheriff Chapman signed a 287(g) agreement with ICE in March. Find more info in our latest Instagram post

How it is being implemented:

  • This agreement gives federal agents the power to keep people in jail after their sentence and deport them, and gives them free access to our streets and even our courts
  • More than 25 people have already been detained just at the Sterling Immigration Court
  • ICE is showing up at homes, harassing residents, and making arrests without identification
  • Local police are increasing traffic stops and searching Hispanic drivers' cars eight times more than others

This is not just about ICE. The 287(g) agreement has allowed local police to racially profile and target communities of color. It has created an environment of fear and broken trust in our legal system.

This harmful partnership must end. Everyone deserves safety, dignity, and fair treatment, no matter their background or immigration status, but Sheriff Chapman’s agreement with ICE shows that he does not believe that. Take action now and sign our letter to Sheriff Chapman below.
