It’s the Social Security scheme that never really dies … |
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has admitted publicly that part of the Trump-GOP megalaw passed last month includes “a backdoor for privatizing Social Security." |
As you know, Wall Street brokers would love to get their hands on seniors’ earned benefits! In fact, it’s been a long-held dream of so-called “fiscal hawks” in Congress to privatize Social Security. |
For decades, National Committee members like you have helped fend off privatization attempts. But it appears that the Trump Administration is dipping its toes into the privatization pool to test the waters. |
As a reminder, privatizing Social Security, which would hand over control of your earned benefits to Wall Street brokers, would subject every worker’s lifetime contributions to the ups and downs of the Stock Market. And Americans of all ages, political parties and income levels continue to oppose cutting Social Security benefits through privatization or other means. |
That’s why we’re asking every supporter to sign our Emergency Petition to your members of Congress, reminding them of where you stand on Social Security privatization: OPPOSED! |

In an environment where the congressional majority and the Trump Administration now appear more willing than ever to impose devastating cuts to seniors’ programs to help pay down soaring federal debt and help pay for massive tax cuts that mainly benefit the wealthy and huge corporations, I’m deeply concerned this scheme could mark the first step toward privatization. |
BOTTOM LINE, TOO MANY LAWMAKERS THINK SOCIAL SECURITY IS A BIG, EASY TARGET FOR SPENDING CUTS. |

That’s why your signed petition will help make it clear that most seniors rely on their earned benefits just to make ends meet — and we reject proposals that would alter the fundamental nature of Social Security, cut benefits or privatize the program. |

P.S. Privatizing Social Security is not a plan to “save” Social Security. It is a plan to dismantle this program. That’s why I’m counting on you to sign our petition now and demand your lawmakers reject any proposal that would privatize or harm current or future benefits. |
