Republican lawmakers, pushed by the White House, are attempting to change district lines to help Republicans hold their majority in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2026 mid-term elections. Democrats in states like California, Illinois and New York are threatening to retaliate with their own redistricting efforts - creating a political arms race with voters ultimately losing the most.
