We need your help to stop Trump’s Williams NESE Pipeline

Dear 350Brooklyn Activists,

Like many of you, we are furious that one of the results of Trump’s two new executive orders: “Declare a National Energy Emergency” and “Unleashing American Energy” meant to boost fossil fuel production and suppress renewable energy, is that Williams Transco has reapplied for permits to restart the same fracked gas pipeline which we defeated five years ago! We have been working hard to make sure that this dangerous, expensive, polluting, climate warming project NEVER gets built – and you have multiple ways to help us do that!

Proposed path of the Williams NESE Pipeline project. The underwater part would be laid for 23 miles along the south coast of Staten Island, past Coney Island, and ending 4 miles south of the Rockaways. Construction would require excavating a trench across the entirety of the route to bury the pipeline.

Here are three things you can do NOW to help defeat the Williams NESE Pipeline Proposal:

  1. Submit comments to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) letting them know why building this pipeline would be a disaster. Make sure you submit your comment by Friday, August 15th which is the end of the official comment period and remember that your voice can make a real difference!

  2. March on August 9th across the Brooklyn Bridge with a coalition of climate and other groups to say NO! to the Williams NESE Zombie Pipeline Proposal!!

  3. Meet with 350Brooklyn on Thursday, August 21 at 7:30 PM to join the new 350BK Stop the Williams Pipeline Workgroup. Register HERE on Zoom. You’ll get a reminder on August 21st as well.

Thanks and see you on August 9th and 21st!
