Dear John,

The Network of enlightened Women is developing leadership skills in young women, giving them professional opportunities and training them in how to bring conservative ideas to campus. Andrea Hitt is one of those students.

As a third year at the University of Virginia, Andrea heard about NeW from her sorority sister, Katie Robbins. With so many of the conservative groups on campus being largely male-dominated, she was excited to discover a community of like-minded women that was eager to share about career aspirations as well as the issues that mattered most to them as women. After attending her first meeting, she quickly got involved in running the chapter’s social media and recruiting other women to join.
This summer, Andrea came to Washington, DC to intern on Capitol Hill for Virginia Congressman Denver Riggleman. She attended the NeW National Conference and enjoyed hearing from speakers such as Congresswoman Barbara Comstock, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, and Culture Editor for The Federalist and NeW alumna, Emily Jashinsky. Following the National Conference, Andrea joined several conference attendees and NeW leaders for a tour of the White House.

Later this summer, she was also invited to an exclusive White House briefing with other NeW Chapter Leaders to hear from Stewart Young, Special Assistant to the President and Director of International Initiatives and Outreach in the Office of Economic Initiatives; Hogan Gidley, White House Deputy Press Secretary; and Jennifer Korn, Special Assistant to the President.

“NeW has introduced me to so many wonderful people and fantastic opportunities. I was so fortunate to tour the White House and attend a briefing there, where I got to hear Ivanka Trump’s Chief of Staff discuss how the WGDP program economically empowers women across the world. I absolutely enjoyed going, and it was inspiring to learn more about the fight for women’s rights and empowerment around the world.” - Andrea Hitt

At the beginning of August, Andrea and 3 others from the UVA board attended the NeW Leadership Retreat in Atlanta, Georgia where they had the chance to meet and network with other NeW Chapter Leaders, plan some exciting events for the upcoming school year, and even rock out to some karaoke at the 90s party. At the end of the retreat, the women from UVA were awarded the Outstanding Education Program Award for hosting Olivia Enos, policy analyst in the Asian Studies Center at The Heritage Foundation, on human rights and trafficking.

"NeW at UVA has quickly become such an important and positive part of my college experience, and I’m so thankful I joined. Everyone has always been so welcoming and supportive, and NeW at UVA is very excited to have new members join this fall!”

Do you or a friend want to have access to the same great opportunities that Andrea has had on her campus and this summer in Washington, DC? Please take a look or share information about how young women can start a chapter on campus ([link removed]) or in a city ([link removed]) today. Starting a chapter not only gives young women the opportunity to connect with like-minded women, but gets them plugged into a national network of stellar conservative women that are taking a stand and speaking up.

Sincerely,
Kathryn Alford
