I’ve told you about the lawsuits I’ve filed against Trump — 37 in just 28 weeks.
The impact they’ve had is enormous: to the tune of more than $168 billion of federal funding restored to California.
To put it simply, for every $1 we’ve been given for this work, we’ve returned $33,600 for the state.
Within his first week in office, Trump went after a full third of California’s budget. Within 24 hours, we were in court and stopped him in his tracks.
We saved money that goes to school programs for our kids, research for our future, medical care for our sick, and infrastructure that keeps our cars driving and planes in the air.
When Trump’s first big attempt to claw back funding failed, he started flooding the zone with targeted attacks. We’ve been ready to strike back at every turn. We protected more than $11 billion in federal grant funding, stopped the dismantling of federal agencies like AmeriCorps and HHS, and defended constitutional rights like birthright citizenship and the right to vote.
Trump and his allies have been playing a dangerous game of wack-a-mole with critical state funding, leading an onslaught of near-constant attempts to cut off services and programs tens of millions of people rely on.
But this is not a game.
When this administration targets California’s funding, they’re putting people’s education, health, livelihoods, and even their lives at risk.
That’s why every single time the President breaks the law, I will take him to court.
We’re six months in — and we have more than 40 months to go. So this is just the beginning.
I will remain unapologetic in my commitment to holding Trump accountable and defending the rights and freedoms of Californians, but I do need your help to keep up this fight.
I will continue to fight at every turn. Thanks for standing with me.
In solidarity,
Rob
