After 130 people died in floods that overwhelmed Central Texas, Greg Abbott called a special session. But rather than focus on flood relief, he buried flood measures under his redistricting scheme to steal Congressional seats for Trump.

For years, local officials have pleaded with Greg Abbott to focus on flood infrastructure and warning systems. Instead, he’s ignored their appeals and focused on helping the Republican Party stay in power. This is the dangerous game that Republicans in Texas are playing: they ignore cries for help, cut programs, and use disasters as a means to grab power.

While Texas families are still searching for their loved ones, Greg Abbott and Donald Trump are plotting to steal as many as five Congressional seats from under sitting members. This is an attempt to disenfranchise our democracy, and Texas Democrats won’t let them get away with it.

Right now, Texas House Democrats are leading the charge against this election theft. They’re using every tool that they have to fight back—including breaking quorum—to force Greg Abbott to focus on flood relief rather than breaking our democracy. We must stand with them to hold the line.
