Moving Washington forward No images? Click here John, The candidates we elect now will play a critical role in deciding the fate of communities across Washington at one of the most consequential times in our state’s history. We have an opportunity to elect leaders who will invest in public health, protect frontline workers, and tackle our climate crisis. We need leaders who understand that the system of white supremacy that permeates our culture allowing poor, Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities to be more polluted, is the same system that disregards racial injustice and state violence. Elected officials need to understand that we can and must focus on solving both and that the solutions are tied together. In an uncertain future, we need to hold these same leaders accountable in the face of enormous decisions. The economic recovery from this pandemic needs to prioritize investments in people’s jobs, communities, and safety. That is what’s at stake in 2020 and why we have to do things differently. Candidates must be ready to invest in taking climate action that builds an equitable and just clean energy future. That’s why we launched Evergreen Future, a bold and actionable platform to move Washington forward. We need your help to hold our leaders accountable. Everyone deserves clean air, accessible transportation, living-wage jobs, and communities to live in that are healthy and affordable. More than income, race is the number one indicator of how you will be affected by pollution. In order for all of us to have clean air and access to a vibrant and sustainable economy, our elected officials must put in place laws that address the systemic problems that have led to these inequities.
