John, this past weekend was jam-packed with rallies, canvasses, and GOTV events for local progressive candidates across Seattle and King County.
With Washington’s primary election coming up tomorrow, there’s no better way to resist Trump’s authoritarian agenda than by electing candidates at every level who will fight to uplift working people and defend our democracy.
First up was our rally for State Representative Edwin Obras in Burien, who’s running for re-election in the 33rd Legislative District.
During his time in the legislature Edwin has passed legislation to protect employees who often work in isolated areas from sexual harassment or assault, strengthen rideshare drivers’ rights, and enhance background checks for employees working with children, seniors, and those in transitional living. He’s been a real champion for working people, and we need to make sure he’s re-elected!
Next up was our canvassing event for Girmay Zahilay, current Chair of the King County Council who’s now running for King County Executive!
During his time on the Council, Girmay has championed affordability and public safety, including introducing and passing legislation to raise the minimum wage. As Executive he wants to increase investments in affordable housing, behavioral health, environmental protection, and public transit. We’re proud to support his campaign!
And last but certainly not least was our canvass for Dionne Foster, an organizer with deep roots in our local community who’s running for Seattle City Council District 9.
She’s built her career on making sure that everyone has a fair shot in life, no matter where they come from. On the City Council she’ll fight for affordable housing, climate resilience, and dignity and fair wages for every worker. That’s exactly the kind of leadership we need in Seattle!
Pramila’s proud to support progressive leadership at every level. If you want to support the work she’s doing to build our movement, please consider pitching in $3 or anything you can today.
And if you’re in Washington, make sure to drop your ballot in a drop box or mailbox by 8 p.m. tomorrow! Click here to find a drop box location near you.
In solidarity,
Team Pramila
