This is what fighting back looks like.
John, David Hogg here.
Sometimes, fighting for democracy means walking out.
That’s exactly what Texas Democrats did — breaking quorum and leaving the state to stop Republicans’ latest power grab: a redistricting scheme that would lock in GOP control, silence communities of color, and erase Democratic voters’ voices.
Let’s be clear: This isn’t politics as usual. It’s Republicans rigging the system to hold onto power — no matter who they have to disenfranchise to do it.
And these Texas Democrats? They risked everything to stop it.
They left their homes and families. They knew they could be arrested. They knew Republican Governor Greg Abbott would threaten to remove them from office.
But they did it anyway.
Because when democracy is under attack, we don’t play along. We fight back.
Right now, the Texas House Democratic Campaign Committee and Leaders We Deserve are working to defend these lawmakers and elect even more like them.
Will you split $5 between Leaders We Deserve and Texas HDCC to stand with these lawmakers and elect more bold leaders who refuse to back down?

Texas may be where they’re test-piloting this — but we know it won’t end there.
If we don’t show up now, we’re just inviting the next wave of attacks. But if we stand together, we send a message to every extremist trying to rig our elections:
You’ll have to go through all of us.
Let’s show them exactly what that looks like.
Thank you,
David Hogg
