John -- Chuck Schumer here.
It's not every day the president of the United States tells you to "go to hell," but in this case, from this president, I wear it as a badge of honor.
In fact, I say right back at ya, buddy.
I'll explain what happened in just a bit. But first, if Democrats win back the Senate, Donald Trump will have a LOT worse things to say about us for the rest of his presidency -- so will you pitch in $5 or more to make that a reality?
You see, Trump desperately wanted a deal to speed through more of his nominees. His flawed, compromised, unqualified, downright dangerous nominees to run our health care, our schools, or even to get lifetime positions as federal judges.
He didn't get a deal. He's pretty mad about it, too. Good.
My counter-offer felt pretty reasonable, all things considered: If the president starts nominating competent, qualified people to fill these roles instead of extremist ideologues -- and starts obeying the law instead of flouting it -- Democrats will give their advice and consent.
Instead, Trump now wants to change the rules and further break the Senate to force his extremist nominees through.
If Republicans go along with it, then as one famous Trump appointee memorably put it, what goes around comes around -- and I will make certain this comes back around on them when Democrats win back our majority. You can mark my words on that.
Ultimately, however, there's only one way to END Trump's unchecked power and rein in his out-of-control administration -- and that's to take away his Republican Senate majority.
That is the fight before us now, and that's why I'm personally reaching out to ask for your help. Will you chip in $5 or whatever amount is right for you to help flip the Senate blue?
We had a taste of victory and Trump's frustration this week -- but only a taste.
Flipping the Senate is how we'll make his frustration permanent.
Thanks for stepping up, -Chuck
