Partners,

Families USA is excited to share our latest publication, What's Next for CMMI? Promise and Peril in the Latest Strategic Direction.

Since its establishment, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) has worked to transform U.S. health care payment and delivery by testing models that shift away from paying for inefficient volume-based care toward an approach to Medicare and Medicaid payments that holds providers accountable for health care costs and improving patient health.

Now, following the release of the latest CMMI strategic direction, advocates have important clarity on the Trump administration’s goals and visions for the program. The latest framework emphasizes updated approaches to model design and evaluation, greater focus on financial risk, use of new technology and more all in support of:

  • Promoting disease prevention
  • Helping people achieve their individual health goals
  • Supporting health care choice and competition

Read Families USA's latest publication to learn more about the risks and opportunities in CMMI's updated approach to health care payment models and what this means for the future of health care payment and delivery reforms.
