I've dedicated my entire career to fighting for South Jersey's working families. Having relied on unemployment and disability benefits myself, the fight to give our neighbors in need a hand up is personal. I know so many of us have struggled to make ends meet, and I truly feel honored to be your advocate in Congress.
We've made some incredible progress together in our efforts to raise the minimum wage, increase access to health care, and make quality education affordable. 2020 has certainly been a turbulent year, but I'm proud of the work we've done in the House to protect public health while also lifting up workers and small businesses. And in the wake of a national outcry for racial justice, the Justice in Policing Act will be a great start to the reform we so desperately need.
But I don't have to tell you how much more work we still have to do together, friend. Trump's disastrous agenda has cost us too many lives, and this November is our best chance to send him and his allies packing. That's why next week's Federal Election Commission (FEC) deadline is so important. We need to hit every fundraising goal from now until Election Day to ensure we can compete with the special interests and national Republicans and their dark money donors.
Team DN has set a $7,000 end-of-quarter goal that we need to reach before June 30. Every dollar you're able to chip in today will ensure we have the resources to keep the 1st district in the hands of the people and send a blue wave crashing into every level of government this year. So if you're able to today, please pitch in what you can:
I'm an electrician by trade and let me tell you I think we could use a lot more electricians in Congress. Too often, lawmakers are out of touch with the issues that concern working families in South Jersey and across the country. Mitch McConnell and his Senate's gridlock is unacceptable -- real, hardworking people are in need right now, and it's our job to step up and support them.
The November election can't come soon enough, friend. But we cannot afford to rest on our laurels now. We need to start building up the resources and momentum we need to win big this year. Not just here in South Jersey, but in races up and down the ballot. I'm committed to doing whatever it takes to address COVID-19, racial inequality, and the host of other issues plaguing our nation. But I need colleagues at every level of government who feel the same.
So please, if you're financially able to, chip in $5 or more now to ensure we hit our $7,000 end-of-quarter goal before next week's critical FEC deadline. Together, we can win the change we want to see here in South Jersey.
