- SacDSA Votes to Create Membership Organizing Working Group / Committee
- At the July General Meeting, the chapter voted unanimously in favor of a proposal to launch a Membership Organizing Committee. The committee is currently under its working group status, per our bylaws, and is now meeting to lay down the foundation to become a permanent committee. The Membership Organizing Committee shall be chaired by at least 2 of our chapter's elected organizers and will be responsible for reaching out to members with lapsed dues, onboarding new members, and reviving our Rose Buddies Program (See below).
- Rose Buddies Reborn!
- Trans Rights and Bodily Autonomy (TRBA) Committee Votes To Merge with Mutual Aid
- Due to schedule conflicts, capacity, a consistent crossover of projects, and other mitigating factors, our TRBA committee will be merging with the Mutual Aid Committee and henceforth, our TRBA work will now operate under the banner of Mutual Aid. Contact the Mutual Aid Committee using the email below or on the chapter Slack (if you have access) to learn more.
- For those wondering, the SacDSA Bylaws allow committees to self-dissolve at any time. But we want to stress the point that TRBA's current projects will continue with the Mutual Aid Committee.
- Don't Forget About Mutual Aid Mondays!
-
Join the Mutual Aid Committee for our next Mutual Aid Monday meal & supply distribution! We meet at the corner of 10th St. & I St. at Cesar Chavez Park. Come find out what we're all about and how you can get involved! We have a variety of ways for you to help out in person. Donations and volunteers are always needed. Email us if you have any questions or would like help coordinating a donation: [email protected]
We look forward to seeing you out there!
- Chip in To Help Your Chapter Delegates Make It To The National Convention
- Have you donated yet? Your SacDSA delegates will be off to Chicago for the DSA National Convention from August 8th -10th and could use your support. Delegates pay for all expenses out of their pocket and could always use a little boost.
- Click here to make a donation, be sure to label your donation with something like "delegates" or "convention" so we distribute the funds properly.

- ICE RAIDS HOME DEPOT! RAMPANT BRUTALITY! MULTIPLE ARRESTS!
- The MAGA Gestapo, AKA ICE, continues to ramp up its fascist attacks on immigrants. In mid-July, ICE raids at Home Depot led to the detention of multiple people, including NorCal Resist organizers! We will not be intimidated! Our comrades at NorCal Resist are mobilizing with haste to protect our community, provide legal support for immigrants, and Migra Watch is on high alert. SacDSA stands in solidarity unapologetically with our neighbors and we will never surrender.
- To learn more about how you can help, follow NorCal Resist on Instagram (see links below) or reach out to our Racial Solidarity Committee at any time and we will be happy to connect you to the proper resources. WE KEEP US SAFE!
- Mamdani Still In The Lead, Creepy Cuomo Raises $100k for Zohran
- Creep Cuomo is still going forward with his plans to run for Mayor of NYC against Zohran Mamdani despite getting his ass handed to him in the primary. But hilariously enough, Creepy Cuomo's campaign announcement got ratioed into oblivion on Twitter (aka X) by a link to donate to Zohran's campaign. The video, which was beyond uninspirational and poorly made (you literally can see the boom mic in multiple shots) led to Mamdani raising over $100,000 for his campaign. The momentum is with Mamdani and democratic socialism, onward to the general election Zohran!
- City Council Expands City Hall's No Resting Ordinance
- It did not take very long for Mayor McCarty to go back on his word that he would be a mayor "for everyone" did it? In a disgusting act of cowardice, the city council approved a measure to extend the no rest / no camping ordinance at city hall to all hours with a vote of 6-3. It is infuriating that as the housing crisis only gets worse, city officials still think they can fix the issue by criminalizing poverty. Pushing the unhoused from our view does NOTHING to reduce the issue, it does NOTHING to help people. We need rent control, we need to end corporate monopolization, and we need more socialized and transitional housing. It is also disturbing that the city council would take this action just as the dictator in chief signed an executive order that allows police to put the homeless into concentration camps. City council is ready to bend the knee to fascism. We aren't!
- The 3 councilors who voted no on the ordinance were Lisa Kaplan, Mai Vang, and Caity Maple.
