McBath fails to lead on police reforms

As the nation demands commonsense, bipartisan police reforms, Lucy McBath and
her fellow Washington Democrats once again put partisan gamesmanship and
political points ahead of coming together to solve problems.  McBath and House
Democrats voted down the JUSTICE Act and, in a shameless political act, rammed
through legislation that was crafted behind closed doors with no Republican
input and no chance of passage in the Senate.

“There is bipartisan consensus for the JUSTICE Act’s commonsense reforms,”
said Karen Handel, the Republican nominee for the 6th District. “It builds on
previous bipartisan efforts — like the First Step Act and Opportunity Zones
which I helped pass.  McBath is more interested in scoring political points
than actually achieving progress. She has remained silent about the extreme
proposals to dismantle and defund local police and refuses to denounce the
violence and chaos.  This kind of outrageous political posturing might fly in
other parts of the country, but not here in Georgia’s 6th. Voters here want
thoughtful leadership that will keep our communities safe while supporting the
people who protect us each and every day."
