My name is Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove, and I’m writing to you not just as a pastor or an author, but as an American man of faith who believes deeply in the power of moral resistance.

I’ve spent the past two decades organizing alongside Rev. Dr. William Barber and communities across this country — from small towns in the South to the steps of the Capitol — calling our nation back to its deepest moral commitments: to love mercy, do justice, and walk humbly with God.

Now, I’m proud to be a steering committee member of the Save America Movement — because we’re building a national response to the dangerous rise of Trumpism and the authoritarian policies tearing our communities apart.

And today, I want to tell you about one of the boldest efforts we’re undertaking: Liberty Vans.

When federal agents — often masked, unmarked, and unaccountable — raid our communities in silence, someone has to show up. Not with violence. Not with vengeance. But with the sword and shield of the First Amendment, and the moral clarity of nonviolent witness.

That’s what Liberty Vans are all about.

They are mobile moral outposts staffed with veterans, chaplains, legal observers, and camera crews ready to follow ICE raids in real time and document what’s happening in the dark.

We’re launching our first vans in Los Angeles, where ICE activity has increased dramatically in recent months. We’re coordinating this initiative with local faith leaders, immigrant rights advocates, and community organizers because we know our work must be rooted in love, truth, and local relationships.

But we need your help to make this possible.

Our goal is to raise enough money to fund van deployment, tech infrastructure, legal support, and coordination on the ground, not just for one van or for one day, but for many vans, in many cities, for as long as it takes to make the illegal ICE activity cease.
