Trump’s Medicaid cuts are pushing rural hospitals to the brink, and Ohioans are going to pay the price.

Mothers and newborns are at the frontline of this healthcare crisis​​. Medicaid covers 40% of births nationwide and nearly half in rural areas. As rural hospitals lose maternity wards, Medicaid cuts will force families to travel farther, face risky emergency deliveries, and face worse outcomes.

Hospitals aren’t just places to get care, too – they’re major employers. When they have to cut services or close, families lose not only their healthcare, but also the jobs that keep our rural communities afloat.

And the worst part​​? The Republicans who voted for it knew exactly this would happen. They had the data in front of them and they chose to ignore it. They dumped healthcare for Ohioans so their billionaire megadonors could get even bigger tax breaks.
