Every election is important! In 2025, nine Washington state legislative seats are up for election. That’s more than any odd year in the past decade. By voting in the August Primary Election and the November General Election, you have an opportunity to elect leaders who will fight for environmental progress. Review our most up-to-date endorsements!
Vote YES on PROP 1 on the Seattle ballot. This proposition renews Seattle’s Democracy Voucher program, which gives every eligible resident four $25 vouchers to support local candidates of their choice. This tool ensures our elections reflect the voices of everyday people, not just the wealthy and well-connected. Vote YES on PROP 1 to protect this revolutionary, successful program that improves Seattle’s democracy!
Join us in congratulating Sen. Liz Lovelett, WCA's 2025 Legislator of the Year! Since joining the Washington Legislature in 2019, Sen. Lovelett (D, Anacortes) has stood out as a fierce leader on environmental issues. She was a key sponsor of the Recycling Reform Act and was instrumental to the Environmental Priorities Coalition accomplishments, such as preserving clean truck standards and protecting budget dollars for climate projects.
Make your voice heard to protect streams that keep forests healthy! The Forest Practices Board is considering long-overdue protection for streams in Washington forests. Public comments in this rulemaking period are open now. Submit a comment urging the Forest Practices Board to adopt strong protections for these streams!
Take action for healthy shorelines. The Department of Ecology is accepting comments on how local governments plan for sea level rise and increased storm severity. These regulations help support salmon populations and orca while simultaneously ensuring that shoreline developments are safe, sustainable, and protect humans from sea-level rise, flooding, and erosion. Submit your comments by August 15.

The Tribal Canoe Journey is a meaningful season for Indigenous people in the Pacific Northwest. On July 31, canoes from Tribal communities made their landing at the home of the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe after paddling for hundreds of miles. Stephanie Masterman, WCA’s Tribal Nation Program Senior Manager, shares what this season and ceremony mean to her and to Indigenous communities. Read her piece in the Seattle Times here.

Thank you for making the 10th annual Tacoma Earth Gay special! We had over 100 community members attend this year – a new record! Together, we successfully restored a local park and picked up 12 bags of litter, 21 bags of weeds, and moved an entire truckload of mulch to mulch-needed habitat areas.

The We Are Puget Sound photo exhibit is now live in Tacoma at the Foss Waterway Seaport. The in-person exhibit is designed to inspire urgent action to restore Puget Sound’s health. It features work from regional photographers showcasing individuals working to find solutions to protect the Puget Sound’s waters, wildlife, health and economic prosperity. Admission to the Foss Waterway Seaport is free!
