Michigan Environmental Justice Conference 2025. Driving Environmental Justice Forward: Action, equity, and impact

Registration is now open!

The *2025 Michigan Environmental Justice Conference [ [link removed] ]*, hosted by the Office of the Environmental Justice Public Advocate in the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, will take place on September 29 at the Marriott Detroit in the Renaissance Center.

This year’s theme is ""*Driving Environmental Justice Forward: Action, Equity and Impact*"." Each pillar will be explored with a focus on moving the hyperlocal nature of environmental justice forward.

* What actions and advocacy lead to change for communities?
* How can we facilitate greater positive impacts in underserved, vulnerable communities?
* How can we ensure equitable opportunities for those who live in communities with environmental justice concerns?

The one-day conference will focus on addressing these questions and providing a space for important conversations related to local and state-level resilience amid challenges to environmental, justice, and climate protections. This event is intended for anyone interested in environmental justice, including:

* Front-line communities
* Business and industry
* Labor
* Local, tribal, state, and federal government
* Policy makers
* Public health practitioners
* Academic and community-based researchers
* Community and environmental organizations
* Environmental justice and community advocates

Grassroots leadership, community-driven solutions, collaborative approaches and Michigan’s efforts to advance environmental justice in historically underserved communities will be highlighted.

To focus on investment and impact in communities with environmental justice concerns, the conference will kick off with tours of Environmental Justice Impact Grantee sites in Detroit and southeast Michigan (seats are limited). Those not opting for tours may take advantage of the networking and resource fair opportunities at the conference venue.

General: $110
Non-profit/Student/Government: $70
Community Member: $30*
"(*A limited number of conference scholarships are available)"
