At United for a Fair Economy we work to build and sustain movements for economic, racial, and gender justice. We have been working side-by-side with frontline leaders to build a world that provides real health and safety for all, using popular education to unpack how our economy is sustained through systems of racism, criminalization and anti-Blackness, and using healing justice to address ongoing trauma. In times of physical distancing, we are working hard to make tools and resources available.



- We've facilitated online healing circles for public workers & community organizers in the largely immigrant community of Chelsea, MA.

- We've facilitated an online training of trainers to prepare Latinx leaders from seven states, Mexico & Honduras to use popular education online.

- We've held webinars on building worker power to address the corporate elite who are profiting from the pandemic.

North Carolina Coalition Training of Trainers



Back before quarantine, UFE hosted our second ever cohort of trainers in our new NC Training Network! In order to continue building and supporting the movement, it is imperative to bring people together from all walks of life to collectively theorize how to defeat the oppression we all face. Movement-builders from 8 different organizations gathered together in Charlotte from cities and towns all across North Carolina for the four-day retreat, co-facilitated by UFE staff members David Dixon, Eroc Arroyo-Montano, Riahl O’Malley, and Jeanette Huezo. Facilitating Leadership with COPAL in Minnesota



Riahl O'Malley (UFE’s National Education Director) co-facilitated COPAL's leadership institute, the first of a series of trainings. COPAL is a rapidly-growing grassroots Latinx organization in Minnesota working to unite Latinxs in Minnesota in active grassroots communal democracy that builds racial, gender, social and economic justice across community lines. Over the course of three days, the 22 participants learned from one another, built solidarity, and planned for the year ahead.

State of the Dream Report 2020

An Open Letter to Governor Cuomo and the NYS Legislature



On March 16, 2020, thirty-five members of Responsible Wealth – a network of individuals in the top 1% of income and/or wealth – sent a letter to New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo and the Legislature advocating for higher taxes on ultra-wealthy individuals like themselves to help fill New York’s pressing and unmet budget needs.

New Resource for Educators: 25 Tips for Facilitating Online



In light of the increased need for many organizations to transition their movement-building work to online platforms because of Covid-19, UFE has put together a new resource containing 25 helpful tips for facilitating meetings online. This new resource, created by our National Education Director, Riahl O’Malley, is filled with varied tips, from technical information to ways to facilitate an inclusive space that challenges inequitable power dynamics. Facilitating with Our Fire Collective



Just before quarantine, Eroc Arroyo-Montano (our Director of Cultural Organizing) collaborated with leaders at the "Our Fire Collective” Educators Healing Gathering, an immersive retreat for educators. "The goal was that we build solidarity and vulnerability through challenging, rejuvenating, and connecting activities grounded in nature and contemplative modalities, and a ‘3-day away’ effect taking time and space from their challenging contexts,” he explained. Combining healing justice and popular education, this important gathering led to transformation, rejuvenation, solidarity, and a renewed passion for crucial movement-building work.
