John,
We are celebrating Black Women's Equal Pay Day today!
The notion that Black women have to work twice as hard to be equal is not just an adage passed on by those who raised us, but a harsh truth borne out in statistics.
Black Women's Equal Pay Day is a reminder that the gender wage gap is compounded by racism: Black women earn just 61 cents for every dollar made by white, non-Hispanic men. Which is why we are proud of our grantee-partner Atlanta Jobs with Justice, whose work provides solutions for issues like equal pay. Paying Black women what they deserve is an act of economic and racial justice.
Will you pitch in $5 in support of grantee-partners like Atlanta Jobs with Justice and continue the fight for equal pay?
Black women face incredible hurdles in the workforce in order to move toward economic equity. It seems obvious that equal work should mean equal pay, yet Black women need to work an entire year plus 234 days to earn what white, non-Hispanic men made in a single year. The reality of our country is that Black women, Native women, and Latinx women have been historically underpaid for their labor.
Give $5 today in honor of Black women, Atlanta Jobs with Justice, and a future where economic justice is a reality.
Onward toward equity,
Ms. Foundation for Women
