It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since marriage equality became the law
of the land. I remember that day so vividly.

A crowd gathered early near the steps of the Supreme Court, breathlessly waiting
to hear what the justices would decide. As the ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges came down, that crowd erupted in a sea of tears and overwhelming joy … only
made more emotional that evening as the White House lit up in a glorious rainbow
to commemorate the history we made.

I’ve held that memory close, especially as times got tough. It’s served as a
reminder that progress is possible, but only if we fight for it with everything we’ve got. So, I am
writing to you today in hopes that you’ll honor this anniversary by recommitting
yourself to HRC and the work ahead.

inspires you to keep fighting just as that image inspired the nation on June 26,
2015.

The power of the courts is palpable, you know. Today,
more than any other day, is a reminder of that.

June 26 has also given us three other key Supreme Court decisions: affirming
consensual sexual activity in Lawrence v. Texas (2003), overturning part of the Defense of Marriage Act in U.S. v. Windsor (2013) and halting California's Proposition 8 in Hollingsworth v. Perry (2013).

And, just last week, we celebrated the landmark Bostock v. Clayton County ruling affirming that discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and
gender identity in employment is illegal.

If we want to keep moving our nation forward, we need to elect a pro-equality
president and U.S. Senate that will both pass necessary legislation AND
determine the next generation of justices and judges.

Our rights are on the line in these elections, friend. We
need everyone engaged in this fight if we want to keep making history … for us
and for our collective future. Can we count on you?
