Friends --
There's a side of Antonio people don't always get to see:
The dad who makes pancakes for the boys in the morning and bathes them before bedtime, the teacher who homeschools them to make sure they do their lessons, and the role model who, through our partnership, has committed to ensuring our boys grow up understanding the value of fighting for a more fair and just society.
He’ll go from cleaning up the pancake batter one minute to a Zoom conference call with elected leaders, campaign volunteers, or local small business owners the next. Then it's back to me and the boys before he responds to emails and messages from constituents.
Antonio has such a big heart -- as a father, and as a member of Congress. Even under the extraordinarily difficult circumstances of the pandemic, he has kept his promise to not only be accessible and accountable to all of you, but also to our family.
With Washington, D.C. beginning to open back up -- and important votes coming up in Congress -- Antonio will be spending more time in D.C. to fight for all families and communities during these uncertain times. The boys and I will miss him, but we understand how important the work is, and how it matters now more than ever.
The days ahead will be challenging, particularly now that the primary election is over. After 2018, I know to expect the negative and baseless attacks ads designed to fan the flames of hate and division. But I also know how we all rallied around Antonio's campaign last cycle, and with a lot of heart and hard work, love prevailed.
Let’s rally again, and make sure Antonio’s campaign has the resources to communicate a message of unity and progress.
Please chip in $5 or more before our end-of-quarter fundraising deadline and together we can make sure all voters know Antonio like you and I do.
