All parents want their children to leave school confident and ready for the=

That=E2=80=99s what NCEA is meant to do, but right now, it=E2=80=99s not do=
ing that well enough. =C2=A0

We are proposing to replace NCEA with new national qualifications that ensu=
re young people have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. =C2=A0
=C2=A0
We want to make it clearer, more consistent, and more useful for every chil=
d. =C2=A0
=C2=A0
=E2=80=AFOur proposal includes getting students in Year 11 to take English =
and Mathematics and sit a Foundational Skills Award (test). =C2=A0
=C2=A0
At Years 12, and 13 we will be replacing NCEA with a National Certificate o=
f Education (Advanced at Year 13), which will have grades from A to E, and =
include internal and external exams.

Every student deserves the chance to succeed and to gain a qualification th=
at is highly regarded both here in New Zealand and around the world.=C2=A0
=C2=A0
