They’re still counting votes, team. Ballots will still be trickling in through the mail for another day or so. Every county has until Tuesday to report their final tallies. So it’ll be a few days before we have results. That’s a good thing—every vote should be counted. And once they are, I expect to be heading into the general election to face off against Mitch McConnell. But we also can’t just sit around and wait, wasting what little time we have left in this election. There’s something you can do right now to help our nominee—no matter who it is. The first FEC deadline of the general election is four days away. And it’s critically important that our nominee doesn’t fall badly behind while we wait for the results of our primary. I’d make a bet right now that Mitch’s campaign is pretty happy about all this. They didn’t have a competitive primary on the Republican side, so while every Democrat had to aggressively reach out to voters and make their case, Mitch could stockpile cash. That’s on top of all the other advantages that come along with being a 35-year incumbent and a power broker for special interests in Washington. But here’s a reality check for Team Mitch: When a whole lot of people chip in a little bit at a time, it adds up. Thanks to you and over 1 million grassroots donations this team has made, Mitch fell behind in fundraising this month for the first time in his career. And that same week, we took a lead in the polls, too. There’s no doubt in my mind that Mitch can be defeated if grassroots supporters are all in. But with only four months to go in this election, even the slightest setback—especially before the critical FEC deadline—could give Mitch the upper hand again. I set out a clear goal when I launched this campaign: defending our democracy and defeating Mitch McConnell. I intend to be the one who gets the job done this November. But we all can agree that no matter who our nominee is, that person can’t do it alone. Thank you,
