This month marks the 90th anniversary of the signing of the Social Security Act by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1935 – a significant piece of legislation that provides economic comfort to millions of people across the United States.

But this year, our Social Security system is under attack like never before. Thousands of the workers who make Social Security function have been fired, and for the first time ever, people’s checks are missing.
