Hi John,

Some days, the attacks on democracy coming out of this White House can feel never-ending. From intimidating media organizations to attempts to undermine the census to the outrageous effort to redraw Texas’s congressional map — the assaults on our democracy are head-spinning.

But here’s the thing: The work to save our democracy doesn’t mean exhausting ourselves with every fight Trump picks. It means staying focused on crucial redistricting fights, investing in key state-level elections, and monitoring impactful court decisions. This is the work that — and we’re not exaggerating when we say this — will help determine whether our democracy emerges from the next four years intact or in tatters.

The NDRC is relentlessly focused on defending our democracy and fair electoral maps across the country. These fights are happening now, and we need your help to fight back against the Trump administration’s most egregious attacks: [[link removed]]

It should be something both parties can agree on: electoral maps should be drawn fairly so that every voter has a voice in our democracy. As Attorney General Eric Holder likes to say, voters should choose their representatives — not the other way around.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Trump told reporters that in Texas, he wants a “simple redrawing, we pick up five seats.” Keep in mind that Texas’s maps are already being challenged by voters in court for violating the Voting Rights Act by diluting the voting power of people of color. Texas Republicans just unveiled a map that would do exactly that. They’re eager to do Trump’s bidding, even if it requires cheating — all to stockpile power and advance his extremist agenda.

Fights like this are exactly why the NDRC exists — to stop politicians from wielding electoral maps as partisan political weapons. Anti-democracy extremists will always try to wrest power away from voters — it’s on people like us to stop them.

The days ahead are absolutely critical — make a contribution TODAY and power our offensive and defensive strategy as we work to defend democracy in Texas and all across the country: [[link removed]]

Thanks for being part of this fight!
