As coronavirus cases spike, the U.S. Postal Service is more vital than ever. While we stay at home to protect our health, many people are depending on mail delivery for basic goods such as medicine, emergency relief or unemployment checks, mail-in ballots, and more.1

But the U.S. Postal Service may become insolvent in just three months.2

Every year, the U.S. Postal Service delivers 142 billion postcards, letters and packages.3 That's why U.S. PIRG is urging the White House to step in with financial assistance. Will you join us, Anonymous?

The U.S. Postal Service has been delivering mail since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It has provided essential services through the Civil War, two World Wars and the Great Depression. Now, after 200 years, it is close to being insolvent right when we need it most.4

The then-postmaster general recently announced that she expects the U.S. Postal Service to be completely out of cash by the end of September of this year.5 This would be devastating -- especially during a global pandemic in which many are relying on mail delivery for medicine, bill payments, and more.

Without federal relief for the U.S. Postal Service, millions remain at risk. This includes the 497,000 Americans who are employed by the U.S. Postal Service and the 329 million Americans who rely on the U.S. Postal Service for essential deliveries.6

Take action today to help protect the U.S. Postal Service from insolvency during a global pandemic.

U.S. PIRG and our national network have sent more than 10,000 messages to the U.S. Senate in support of legislation to give the U.S. Postal Service the funding it needs to continue its vital services through this crisis. Now, in order to build the necessary support to see this bill enacted, we're urging President Trump to stand with the U.S. Postal Service.
