Interns Needed for Fall Semester
The Washington Report on Middle East Affairs magazine is now accepting applications for its Fall 2019 internship program. Our publishing office and bookstore are located near the Dupont Circle Metro stop in Adams Morgan in Washington, DC.
Interns do not receive an hourly wage, but they are paid for articles and photographs published in the print edition of the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs. Interns are also given a Metro card for travel to and from work events. We ask that interns work a minimum of 15 hours per week. We offer the opportunity to:
1. Improve journalistic skills and knowledge of the Middle East by writing reports on a wide range of lectures, briefings, conferences and demonstrations in the Washington, DC area.
2. Network with professionals working in a variety of Middle East-related fields.
3. Help introduce our magazine and bookstore ([link removed]) to a wider audience at conferences and conventions.
4. Assist our bookstore ([link removed]) director by shipping orders, interacting with customers and assisting with other responsibilities.
5. Curate, research and compile interesting media to be shared on our social media pages.
6. Develop digital media skills by creating videos and infographics.
Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor's degree, advanced degree, or, preferably, be a recent graduate.

2. Resume.
3. Writing sample (no more than two pages). Writing samples should preferably highlight the applicant's reporting skills or academic experience with the Middle East. Applicants may alternatively write a one to two-page essay describing how they became interested in the Middle East.

The American Educational Trust (AET) is a non-profit foundation incorporated in Washington, DC in 1982 by retired U.S. foreign service officers to provide the American public with balanced and accurate information concerning U.S. relations with Middle Eastern states. As part of its educational mission, AET publishes the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, a magazine published seven times per year in Washington, DC, and maintains a bookstore, Middle East Books and More. Established in 1992, 10 years after the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, Middle East Books and More is now a non-profit hub for Middle Eastern books and culture. We are located in a storefront in Adams Morgan, Washington, DC, below the Washington Report magazine’s offices. More and more shoppers strolling along the busy 18th Street restaurant corridor are discovering our shop full of Palestinian pottery, olive oil, and soaps.
