We are in a frightening moment for our country.

The aggressive immigration enforcement tactics and misuse of the military to intimidate American citizens in their own communities by the Trump Administration are dangerous and must be stopped.

We’ve seen how the Trump Administration has disregarded public safety and trust in the name of mass deportations:

Masked officers without any sort of identification disappearing nonviolent migrants off the streets. Deploying the National Guard and Marines to American cities, and even asking our troops to play immigration judge.

This is straight out of the dictator playbook, and it has to stop. Right here. Right now.

That’s why I’ve introduced legislation to build guardrails to prevent Trump from continuing to misuse our military. Because our troops have more important things to do than Trump’s political bidding.

I’m also proud to join Sen. Padilla and 11 of our colleagues in sponsoring the VISIBLE Act requiring ICE officers to display clearly visible identification during public-facing enforcement actions.

These are common-sense policies that will keep our communities safer and protect our freedoms.

We are more powerful when we act together, so today, I’m asking you to join me in advocating for more immigration enforcement protections.
