Please Note: Most people receiving this email are not monthly donors to
Indivisible, so don't be alarmed when we talk about how to check on your
recurring donations in ActBlue (you may not have any!). We simply think
this info is useful for anyone who donates to political campaigns or
causes.

Indivisibles --

We just passed the end of July, and like the end of every month, your
inbox probably overflowed with emails from candidates and organizations
asking you to help them meet their monthly fundraising goals. It can add
up, and over the course of months and years, we know a lot of folks end up
making recurring donations they forget about. Sometimes, people
unintentionally make multiple recurring donations to the same group or
campaign.

While we absolutely depend on your support for all the work we do, we
never want anyone to end up giving beyond their means due to unintentional
recurring donations.

So we’re reaching out today with a bit of an unusual request: [ [link removed] ]Please
log into your ActBlue account, if you have one, and review the recurring
gifts tab.*

You might not have any recurring donations right now, you might have a
bunch to different orgs (awesome), but it’s always a good idea to take a
moment every so often to check. We’ve got instructions on how to do so
below.

Monthly donations make up a crucial part of our grassroots fundraising.
They allow us to quickly set up rapid response campaigns and also provide
us the stability we need to plan for the future. So we always urge folks
to make a monthly donation if they can -- and we know we’ve got some
supporters that choose to make multiple recurring gifts so they can
support our electoral AND advocacy work. We’re incredibly grateful for
that.

But it’s also super easy to just lose track of recurring gifts when you’re
supporting your favorite org or candidate. Some shady orgs count on that
-- using tricky practices to get people to sign up for monthly gift after
monthly gift. It’s awful.

We want to make sure that when you give to Indivisible, it’s because you
actively support our organizing work and campaigns. [ [link removed] ]Click here to see
instructions from ActBlue for how to view, cancel, or edit the amount of
your monthly gifts (if you end up wanting to increase a recurring gift to
Indivisible while you’re in there, hey -- we won’t argue).

If you have an ActBlue express account, you’ll be able to see your full
donation history on ActBlue, not just your contributions to Indivisible!

A note about Indivisible’s different entities:

Indivisible is made up of three different entities: a PAC, 501(c)(4), and
501(c)(3). There are strict campaign finance and tax rules that govern how
each entity operates and splitting across three entities allows us to
engage in the full range of grassroots organizing.

* Donations to our PAC, Indivisible Action, help fund our electoral
work: getting out the vote, taking back the House, and defeating MAGA
Republican candidates.
* Donations to our 501(c)(4), Indivisible Project, help fund our
advocacy work: fighting against MAGA legislation in Congress,
grassroots pressure campaigns targeting Members of Congress, and more.
* Donations to our 501(c)(3), Indivisible Civics, support leadership
development for local Indivisible groups and our civic education work
(think of programs like our disinformation-fighting Truth Brigade).

Monthly gifts to different entities will help fund different types of
grassroots organizing. If you’d like to support multiple entities, we’d
absolutely appreciate it! But if you want to prioritize one monthly gift,
we hope this breakdown will help you choose what type of organizing you’d
like to support.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team

P.S. -- You might wonder why we’re encouraging you to check this out
yourself rather than alerting folks directly if they have several
recurring gifts. And, in fact, we’ve spent the last few months doing
exactly that, personally emailing people following an audit conducted by
our digital team. However, because we have multiple entities in ActBlue
and because people often have their ActBlue accounts signed up under a
different email address than we have in our system (or even several email
addresses), it can get tricky to identify everyone with multiple recurring
gifts.

* It’s possible to make a recurring donation via ActBlue as a guest. If
you do not have an ActBlue account you can search your email for ActBlue
receipts. They will have a subject line starting with “Thank you for your
recurring contribution to”.
