I’ve always believed that service is how we build stronger communities — and stronger people.
Growing up, I struggled to find purpose. That changed when I went to military school, then joined the Army. When I put on the uniform and served my country, I found it.
That’s why I launched the Maryland Service Year Option — the first statewide program in the country to give high school graduates a year of paid, full-time community service and a path to college or a career.
It’s a simple idea with a big impact. And we need your help to keep making more innovative ideas like it a reality.
