PJM's decisions impact our electric bills, economy, and environment. Yet, in recent years, PJM has struggled to integrate new renewable energy projects, slowing our transition to clean energy and driving up electricity costs for consumers.
One key challenge for transparency is that many voting members of PJM include fossil fuel-dependent generators and utility companies. That means that, when votes are cast behind closed doors, PJM makes decisions that prioritize corporate interests over the public good.
Fortunately, the Pennsylvania House recently passed legislation requiring transparency with bipartisan support. HB 1599 requires PJM members to publicly record their votes and explain how each decision serves the public interest.
This is a HUGE win for accountability and smart energy policy.
But we're not done yet.
The bill is now in the Pennsylvania Senate, and we need your voice to push it forward. Contact your state senator today and urge them to support HB 1599 for more transparency under PJM. |
Thank you for standing with us in the fight for a cleaner, more transparent, and accountable energy future for Pennsylvania.
