John, Wow. We are seeing history unfold right in front of our eyes! Jamaal Bowman — a progressive candidate for Congress in New York’s 16th District — has all but officially won against a 30-year incumbent who tried to fund his re-election campaign with millions from a Republican Super PAC. In Kentucky, Charles Booker — a progressive who is running in the Democratic primary to face Mitch McConnell in November — is poised for victory after mail-in ballots are counted on July 1st. These wins are so important. All of the time and energy is paying off. We are truly changing the world. This is the movement right here, right now. And in August, we have a chance to do the same, but we need your help.
These wins are amazing and give our campaign momentum, signaling to the rest of the country that replacing out-of-touch Democrats with real progressive warriors is not only possible, but necessary. That’s why our race is crucial. My opponent is one of the most conservative Democrats in Congress. He has taken over half a million dollars from corporations. He voted with Trump over 54% of the time in his first cycle. And he supports cutting Social Security and Medicare during the COVID-19 pandemic.
